Hiking Chimney Tops Great Smoky Mountains National Park Howdy Folks! If you are ever in the Smokies and you want a good work out, well this is a great trail for you. It isn't really all that long at 1.75 miles one way (obviously having to back track to get back to the parking lot), but it is pretty steep. You gain about 1500ft on your way up and the views are absolutely worth it.
