Beach/Ocean Junk Journal Flipthrough (altered book)

My first attempt at a junk journal as a birthday present for my sister, who loves the beach. I t's an altered book. I painted both the outside and inside covers. The signatures are loose (giving her the ability to add or remove pages at her leisure) and bound with simple twine binding method. The spine is decorated with burlap material, seashells, and a "junk jewelry" necklace. It has a simple elastic/button closure. The signatures each have a cover, each one hand painted in some form or fashion by me. I used "leftovers" from painting/creating the journal inside the signatures as design elements. Many of the colored images throughout were originally printed in black & white (because I did not have a color printer) and I hand painted them. I also included some special photos of her and family as a little surprise. I enjoyed getting my feet wet with this project.
