#hongkong is a chain of islands on the southern coast of China on the South China Sea. It comprises #hongkongisland, #kowloon, New territories, Lantau and 200 other islands. It has a long history that goes back to the stone ages. Initially under the Ching Dynasty, but after their defeat in the first Opium war, it was handed over to the British. Today, it is a special administrative region of China following the “two systems, one nation” theory. This video captures our #hongkongtravel story as we trundled down the lanes of history on the Ding Ding Tram. This Tram was started in 1904 and has since then been an inextricable part of Hong Kong’s history and identity. We took an early morning ride and watched from the upper decks of the Tram as the city woke up to another new day. Soon we reached The Man Mo Temple on Hollywood Road. Built in 1847, the Man Mo Temple is one of the oldest temples in Hong Kong. It is dedicated to the worship of Man Tai who is regarded as the God of Literature and Mo tai, the God of War. Hence its name. The temple is a beautiful example of Chinese architecture that is etched all over its walls, pillars, and the altars. It also houses a huge bronze bell that belonged to the Ching Dynasty. It is a favorite spot with tourists who come here to pray for success and prosperity. We felt blessed walking within its precincts. In the evening, we visited the Ladies Market in the #mongkok area for some souvenir shopping. The array of gifts we saw there was simply mind-blowing. After a hearty retail therapy, we left planning the next day’s adventure. Day trip Travel Itinerary: 1. Get a good hearty breakfast at places closest to your place of stay.
