Juju Midge Blog-Post & Recipe: In this week’s episode of Tying Tuesdays, watch as Brady Laehr ties the Juju Midge! Charlie Cravens Jujubee Midge is a wonderful pattern that fish love. Tying these with super hair can be a little challenging however. Talking with many customers in the store XS/Fine wire has become a good substitute for the sometimes difficult super hair. Not only is it a stiffer material but it also adds a little weight to this fly. This does limit your color options meaning super hair still provides the best variety. This Juju pattern is no exception to the effective fly created by Charlie. The silver black variation tied in this video is by far my favorite and most successful. This pattern is a no-nonsense option in the winter months on tailwaters and also works great throughout the year on freestones. It can be fished in a variety of styles from lightweight dropper rigs to heavy weighted nymphing rigs. I will even fish it as a lead fly in my drop shot style euro rig.
