ACC Settings is an app that provides a graphical user interface for the root tool called Advanced Charging Controller. ~~~~~ Hi! Don't forget to hit the "Thanks" button on this video, if you can, and join our channel community here - / @explainingandroid Video Description ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ACC, also known as Advanced Charging Controller, is a powerful program for Android that can control charging speeds dependant on what your current battery percentage is. . .and what the current battery temperature is. And ACC Settings is an easy to use GUI for ACC that takes all of the troublesome work out of using ACC on your smartphone or tablet. Until now, I've been using a simple root application called Battery Charge Limit to prevent my Android devices from charging past 80%. I do this to increase the longevity of my battery but the current percentage isn't the only factor here that people should be paying attention to when charging your battery. You also want to take battery temperature into account here. Since the app I was using didn't have any options for temperature settings, I looked into ACC. Advanced Charging Controller is a Magisk Module for a tool that has been around for many years now and it's something I've always wanted to look into. But using ACC itself is a chore since it's all handled via the command line. However, I recently learned of an application called ACC Settings, by developer CrazyBoyFeng, that offers a simple user interface for the application. You'll find the GitHub source page for this project in the video description below. And for those wanting a direct link to the version I'm using, I'll be including an APK download link to version 2022.6.13-pre down there as well.\ Once downloaded, we just need to sideload the APK file like normal to install the application. We will then need to open up the ACC Settings application that appears and grant the app root access so that it can install the Magisk Module. Remember, ACC Settings is only the user interface for this program. It needs the ACC Magisk Module installed in order to function and it does that installation for us. You'll notice this by opening up the Magisk app and checking the Modules section to make sure it's listed in the page there. And once you see that, we need to reboot the smartphone or tablet like we normally would after installing a Magisk Module. After the device boots back up, we can open up the ACC Settings app. . .enable the toggle next to the Daemon option. . .and then dive into the Configuration section to set things up how you like them. There's a lot of options here but I only really configured a couple of them since those were the only things I was concerned with. But if you're looking for more advanced control here then be sure to check out all of these features. Just be aware of what you're doing if you end up customizing things like Max Charge Current or Max Charge Voltage. For me, I just wanted to make sure the device didn't charge more than 80% while also setting the the battery to be careful when charging over 40 degrees. So I set the Cooldown option to 40C while telling it to pause the charging process if it ever got above 45C. This way, I don't always have to use the slow charger to keep the temperatures down when it's plugged into the wall. With these two options set up in this way, it should increase the health and longevity of the battery in this device for much longer than if I ignored these factors when I went to charge up my smartphone.
