How to Study Biblical Prophecies: The Correct Method for Understanding Them ALLUSIONS, IMAGES, AND SYMBOLS: HOW TO STUDY BIBLICAL PROPHECY As with almost everything else in Scripture, Christians disagree on the interpretation of biblical prophecies, leading many to think they aren't worth trying to understand. After all, if Christians fight among themselves over every jot and tittle of the prophecies, what validity can there possibly be? Unfortunately, even many believers find some books of the Bible, such as Revelation, incomprehensible and avoid them, thinking that studying prophecy causes more problems than it solves. Seventh-day Adventists take a different approach to prophecy, focusing on Christ, not a particular geographic location, such as the Near East, or any military conflict that may unfold there. Instead, we view prophecy through the lens of the great controversy between Christ and Satan, a worldwide spiritual struggle that will reach its climax when God's people, both Jewish and Gentile, face the final crisis centered on the worship of the Creator and in opposition to the beast and his image.
