When it settles into our hearts, it begins to attack our hope and distort how we see God’s goodness. Instead of recognizing where God is moving, people can find themselves rehearsing past losses, focusing on limitations, or pushing God’s promises into the distant future. Over time, disappointment can shape identity and influence the report we carry about God’s faithfulness. In this message, we’re reminded of the difference between root hope and fruit hope. Fruit hopes are the things we pray for—healing, breakthrough, provision, or new opportunities—but root hope is deeper: it’s the unshakable truth that we are God’s beloved children. When our hope is rooted in who we are to God rather than in the outcomes we’re waiting for, disappointment loses its power. As we remember His promises and anchor our hearts in His goodness, we are able to move from rehearsing disappointment to carrying and declaring the hope of God in the land of the living.
