However, Hosea chapter 2 underlines the manner in which the Lord will establish a new covenant with Israel, indeed, this covenant will be the best marriage ever, and through it, Israel and even all of creation will be renewed. This chapter explains the manner in which the Lord will renew His people and fulfil the promises which were made to the patriarchs. Indeed, the 'new covenant' will require a 'new exodus' and through the new covenant all of creation will be renewed. A key section in this chapter is the Lord's three-fold promise to 'espouse/marry' Himself to Israel (Hosea 2:18-22), a promise that recalls Israel's three-fold promise to obediently adhere to the covenant (Exodus 19:8; 24:3, 7).
