Jo Sonja Pouring Medium Project | Upcycled Picture Frame

In this fun acrylic pouring project, Chroma's Resident Artist Teresa Small uses Jo Sonja Matte Flow Scrylics and Jo Sonja Pouring Medium to upcycle picture frame. A great project for beginners! One of our favorite projects with the medium is to upcycle old/ outdated homewares and trinkets. The first step was to use masking tape on the areas we did not want painted and to apply a coat of gesso on the parts we did want painted. We considered the colours of the room we were going to display it in and chose a colour scheme that would match. Our advice when picking colour schemes is “Less-is-more”, limit yourself to 3-4 colours. Once the colours were chosen, mix the Jo Sonia Matt Flow Acrylic with the Jo Sonia Pouring Medium at a ratio of 1:4 paint to medium. Using a “Ribbon” technique we covered the frame and set it aside to dry. The drying time of this medium is between 24-48 hours.
