Salmon Fishing River Blanda - Incredible Day in Northern Iceland

We are going to fish Blanda in Iceland during prime time for Atlantic salmon. A river I grew up hearing about long before I ever held a salmon rod. To stand here, casting this pool for the first time, is something I would not trade for any other fishing day this year. Together with my friend and guide colleague David Lambert, I spend a full day working classic salmon water. We start with calm conditions and then adapt as the river, light, and wind change throughout the day. There are moments during the day that remind us exactly why salmon fishing holds such a grip on us. In the second part of the film, I sit down with David for a longer conversation. He shares his background as a salmon guide, lessons learned from fishing and guiding around the world, and practical advice on flies, running lines, and fighting salmon. We also talk honestly about the future of Atlantic salmon and why every encounter with these fish feels more important than ever.
