By reinterpolating video, Entirely new original frames are created based on the prediction of the image that would exist between 2 others. This will create the smoothest level of movement and ensures that true 60fps is experienced. What process of upscaling do you use? Upscaling occurs all the time depending on the hardware you use to experience the media. Traditional upscaling is great, however, it is mostly quadruplling the size of the pixels with some light smoothing on an images edged. The process James uses will involve about 20-25 different processes that must be completed in order to create artificial, but extremely realistic new frames that are 4x size but contain real detail that is expected. It must be 99.97% based on the facts found in the original image/frame. Creative artistry that pushes below that level will be marked as such. Wehmeyer-Designs Remastered Video including upscaling, will be entirely new , but must be based on facts at a very high confidence level. I use a combination of automatic and manual tools in conjuction with 6-8 different TOPAZ AI models that each address different aspects of the video (anti-aliasing, motion blur, sharpness, compression artifacts, and of course upscaling itself. ) The process often involves upscaling and downscaling actions and can make a 10 minute video 22MB size into a process stream that could easily take over 20 hrs of run time to complete often with many redos and a single video file around 2TB in size until I reencode the video cleanly. I typically will not enhance to HDR because 99% of monitors (even 4k) are not HDR capable. Most TVs are, but the process would involve several additional tools that would increase the workflow by days.
