শেরপুর জেলার নালিতাবাড়ী উপজেলার রামচন্দ্রকুড়া ইউনিয়নের প্রত্যন্ত পাহাড়ি জনপদ বিশপ নগর (Panihata)। এই গ্রামটি গারো পাহাড়ের পাদদেশে অবস্থিত ৬৫টি গারো পরিবারের এক ব্যতিক্রমী বসতি। অবাক করা বিষয় হলো, এই গ্রামে কোনো বাঙালি বা অন্য ধর্মের মানুষের মিশ্রণ ঘটেনি; এটি একমাত্র অমিশ্রিত গারো আদিবাসী গ্রাম। কিন্তু এই গ্রামের নামকরণের পিছনে রয়েছে এক করুন ইতিহাস। ২০১০ সালে ভয়াবহ হাতির আক্রমণে এই গ্রামের সবকিছু তছনছ হয়ে যায়। তখন তাদের পাশে দাঁড়ান স্থানীয় বিশপ, যিনি তাদের ঘর, খাবার ও জীবন দেন। সেই মানবিকতার গল্প থেকেই এই গ্রামের নাম হয় বিশপ নগর। ​এই ডকুমেন্টারিতে আমরা এই নান্দনিক গারোদের জীবনযাত্রা কাছ থেকে দেখব। দেখব তাদের নিজস্ব পোশাক দকমান্দা পরা মহিলাদের, শুনব তাদের আচিক ভাষার গুরুত্ব। বর্তমানে ধান ঝাড়া ও ধান শুকানোর কাজে ব্যস্ত এই গারোরা সীমান্ত বাণিজ্যের সঙ্গেও জড়িত। খ্রিস্টান ধর্মে দীক্ষিত হলেও, তারা আজও ধরে রেখেছেন তাদের পূর্বের ধর্মাচার ওয়ানগালা। সীমান্তবর্তী এই গ্রামের উন্নয়ন সমস্যাগুলোও আমরা তুলে ধরেছি। এই ব্যতিক্রমী আদিবাসী গ্রাম ও তাদের টিকে থাকার গল্প জানতে পুরো ভিডিওটি দেখুন। ​ভিডিওতে যা যা থাকছে: ​বিশপ নগর গ্রামের নামকরণের ইতিহাস (হাতির আক্রমণ ও বিশপের ভূমিকা)। ​গারো আদিবাসীদের নান্দনিক জীবনযাত্রা ও ফুলের বাগান। ​একক গারো বসতির বিশেষত্ব। ​তাদের ঐতিহ্যবাহী পোশাক (দকমান্দা), ভাষা (আচিক) ও উৎসব (ওয়ানগালা)। ​সীমান্ত জনপদের সমস্যা ও উন্নয়নের অভাব। Welcome to Bishop Nagar (Panihata), a highly remote and unique indigenous settlement in Ramchandrakura Union, Nalitabari, Sherpur District, Bangladesh. Situated at the foot of the Garo Hills, this village is home to just 65 Garo (A’chik) families. What makes it exceptional is its composition: it is the only unmixed Garo village in the area, with no Bengali or other community members residing here. The village's name, Bishop Nagar, has a moving history tied to a tragic event in 2010 when devastating elephant attacks destroyed their homes. A local Bishop stepped in, offering shelter and rebuilding their lives, leading to the new name. ​In this documentary, we explore the aesthetic life of the Garo people. We witness women in their traditional Dōkmandā attire, see their focus on the A’chik language, and observe the blending of their Christian faith with their ancient Wangala festival traditions. We capture the locals busy with paddy harvesting, drying the golden rice, and their involvement in border trade.
