Date filmed: Monday the 8th of July 2024 Video filmed at 13:32 Route: Aberdeen to Inverness Line Kintore (KTR) is the closest station Crossing type: Manually Controlled Barrier crossing with Obstacle Detection (MCB-OD) Filming location: Bridge Road, Kintore (AB51 0UL) An un-cut lowering filmed at this level crossing in Kintore not too far to the North West of the city of Aberdeen in north east Scotland. In its current form, the level crossing dates back to 2019 when the line was doubled as far as Inverurie, and this level crossing used to be a half-barrier one. Now, it has full barriers, an obstacle detection system, and one set of lights is mounted really high up as to be visible over a stone wall. As with all other obstacle detection crossings, the crossing is automatically scanned as trains 'strike in' and the lowering sequence is started automatically, and the signals over it can be cleared when the system has proven the crossing is clear. It almost seems unusual to find one this far north, though. Just over the crossing is a bridge over Aberdeenshire's River Don, which is absolutely not in the slightest anywhere near Doncaster.
