Hey everybody, Ryan here at etrailer. Today on our 2022 Hyundai Santa Cruz, we're gonna be showing you how to install the Tekonsha custom fit vehicle wiring harness. But before we do that, I'm gonna check it out and make sure that this is something that's gonna work for you. So with the Santa Cruz being a pretty capable vehicle, you know, I'm sure there's gonna be quite a few people out there wanting to pull some trailers around. You know, it make sense, but when you're pulling a trailer, you gonna want the lights to work on it. That way people around you know what's going on and you'll be safe and legal. And that's why a wiring kit like this is gonna come into play, all right. So it is the four way flat type connector, really common type of connector. This is gonna plug into a lot of those, you know, smaller trailers, utility trailers, small boat trailers, things like that. And it's gonna provide us with our turn signals, our running lights and our brake lights. So we'll have all of our bases covered there. And these are also gonna work with a lot of light up accessories. So, nowadays I'm seeing quite a bit of like cargo carriers that have lights on them and a lot of those share the same type of connector. So if that's what you're looking to do as well, this will power up those too. So I do want to address probably one of the big questions that a lot of people are wondering and there's wiring kits available for the Santa Cruz that has the factory tow package plug and some kits that are for the Santa Cruz that does not have the factory tow package plug. The kit that we're doing today is for those that do have the factory tow package plug. And just because you don't have a hitch on the back of your Santa Cruz, doesn't mean that you don't have the factory tow package plug. Matter of fact, on just about every single Hyundai SUV that I've worked on, 99.9% of the time, I'm, I don't think I've had come across one yet that does not have that plug. And to check just to make sure you're getting what you actually need, to figure out if you have that part or not is super simple, all right. There's a, a panel over here on the driver's side, really easy to take down. I'll show you how to take it down during installation here in a minute, but you can pop that down and if you have an empty plug there, chances are really, really good. You're gonna be able to use this factory tow package wire. And just to kind of compare this kit to the other factory tow package kit, the Curt one, really not a whole lot of difference there, I mean I feel confident using either one, with that said, I usually kind of just lean towards this Tekonsha, just kind of partial to them. I just, you know, I like the way they feel a little bit better, but really it doesn't matter. They both gonna get the job done. And as far as how you want to mount up your connector, you have a couple of choices. What I did here today is just used our dust cap to loop it around the safety chain openings there. And we could store it like that, I just put a piece of wire loom on it to help kind of clean it up that way you don't see the wires hanging. Wiring doesn't come with it, but you can grab it right here at etrailer, If that's something you want to do. And you can also get brackets. So we sell tons of different types of brackets that'll allow you to bolt that bracket or clamp it to your hitch and be able to mount that wiring up something like this or in this area. However, you want it really. So, a couple of options there, and you know, they all gonna work fine. It's just kind of your personal preference on what you want to do. But other than that, at the end of the day, a really simple kit, really simple installation, essentially take the panel down, plug it in and zip-tie it up. So really shouldn't give you too many issues. But speaking of that why don't we go ahead and hook it up together now. To begin our installation, we're gonna be here underneath the back of our vehicle, and we're gonna be working on the driver's side. And first things first, we're gonna have this under body panel and we need to remove it. So on this bottom edge, we're gonna have three push pin sight fasteners. You just pry underneath the head of it and pull it out. We're using a trim tool, but a flathead screw-driver works just as good. With those out, if we come around to this edge
