The Uganda office hosted a webinar on the latest tax developments in Uganda and what these may mean for business. Even with the outbreak of COVID-19, the Government of Uganda continues to nurse ambitious tax targets. The webinar discussed how some of these tax ambitions are being played out in terms of the latest tax legislation and administration and enforcement measures. The discussion was facilitated by Daniel Gantungo, partner in our Corporate Department. Panel members included: Ernest Wiltshire, Managing Partner, Bowmans Uganda; Ronald Kalema, Head Tax Department, Bowmans Uganda. The discussion focused on: review of key 2020 tax amendments; how businesses can organise themselves so as to remain both tax compliant and commercially sound; and how businesses can seek relief if faced with enforcement measures from the Uganda Revenue Authority.
