Phenyl, the common disinfectant which we use to clean up our places. So the chemical composition is carbolic acid. Do not, actually we suggest that the patient should not go in for forcible vomiting, nor should he dilute it with taking lot of water. In fact that will promote the absorption and he should also not have alcohol immediately because that will be even more fatal. Instead the best thing to do is to have olive oil little bit and animal charcoal. Usually in hospitals we put a nasogastric tube and see that through that nasogastric tube we give olive oil injection and also we see that there is some animal charcoal which is put in. Animal charcoal has this capacity to absorb all these things, toxins which is there in the digestive tract. This has got a corrosive property and so it can cause intestinal burns. If it is inhaled it can cause inflammation of the lungs causing pneumonia. In the skin it can cause inflammation of the skin causing reddishness and later on it can turn brownish or blackish. So that’s why if it is exposed to the skin causing symptoms and sufficient amount of washing will help. But in the intestines if it is so, then drinking lot of water can actually make it be absorbed more. So the best thing to do is to reach a hospital and get yourself treated there.
