Join BPL Presents as we celebrate the legendary Boston Review, as it turns fifty—with appearances by Vivian Gornick, Robin D.G. Kelley, David Waldstreicher and moderator Gianpaolo Baiocchi. To commemorate this milestone, the review will publish a special anniversary issue with essays from beloved, long-time contributors Robin D. G. Kelley, Vivian Gornick, David Waldstreicher, among others, and these three will read from their work, discuss the responsibility of intellectuals today, and reflect on 50 years of Boston Review. Vivian Gornick’s most recent book is Taking a Long Look: Essays on Culture, Literature, and Feminism in Our Time. Robin D. G. Kelley is Gary B. Nash Professor of American History at UCLA and a contributing editor at Boston Review. His many books include Freedom Dreams: The Black Radical Imagination. David Waldstreicher is Distinguished Professor of History at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York. His latest book is The Odyssey of Phillis Wheatley: A Poet’s Journeys Through American Slavery and Independence. Gianpaolo Baiocchi is Professor of Sociology at NYU and Director of the Urban Democracy Lab. His most recent book is We, the Sovereign.
