Vger's Truth

The first movie of the cult classic Star Trek shows Captain Kirk and his crew encounter a space craft heading to Earth. The are sent with the Star Ship Enterprise to investigate. The ship brings them inside up to a doorway where the ship cannot enter. The ship sends a signal to the Enterprise and takes one of the crew members. A few minutes later, the craw member arrives on the ship this time with a jewel placed on her neck and pulses when thinking. This is not the crew member they knew but rather the ship they are investigating which calls itself Vger. Spock, a half human half Vulcan slips away and puts on a space suit and ponders outside the ship and enters the ship. He catalogs his journey through the ship and confirms the ship is a thinking conscious computer. Vger shows Spock of its homeworld and Spock tries to mind meld with the core of the ship, attempting to understand its intentions. Spock passes out and is thrown outside the ship and is caught by Captain Kirk in his space suit. Spock is woken up in the infirmary and tells Kirk and the doctor about his journey. What Spock says to Kirk about Vger is reminiscent of things I have heard about the endings of investigations and analyses performed by computers.
