Started with the trusdx 3s 750mAh Li-ion battery EFHW (40m) K6ARK mic and ear bud got 10 in the log on 40m then switched to the QMX from QRP-Labs and the trapped EFHW to try work 17m and used the 3s18650 cells Theres a back to back RX audio comparison of the two radios and the QMX had 20dB of attenuation applied. It really is considerably better on RX and I’d have gotten more in the log had I been using it from the start I’ve currently no practical results for the difference on TX but the (tr)uSDX feels better - but that could be my build skills or it could just be a confidence in the tried and tested. Contentiously the mast/support isn’t considered part of the 1lbs but I’ll go out again and activate without the mast for the “nay-sayers” (and I’m kind of one of them) My interest in the 1lbs challenge is more about preparing for the lightest radio kit I can take on multi day hikes as my one luxury item and fine tuning my skills in getting on air and heard quickly and effectively. These two rigs output 4w which isn’t enough in compromised locations / they really need elevation to work well. The EFHW resonant on 40m 20m 15m and 10m (trapped for 17m) is perfectly suited to the QMX and communications under most circumstances with 40 NVIS up to 500km, 20m around the 1000-1500km range and 15m sometimes sneaking across the Atlantic during the Grey line I reality I have better antennas but none as versatile compact and light
