Buttermilk Pie Recipe with Michael's Home Cooking

This Buttermilk Pie is outstanding. It reminds me of eating a wonderful flan, that melts in your mouth. You just have to make this, it will make you smile! Ingredients: 2 cups sugar 4 Tablespoons all purpose flour 1/2 teaspoon kosher coarse salt 4 eggs (large) 1 cup buttermilk 2 teaspoons vanilla extract 1 stick of butter (4 ounces) 1 piecrust nutmeg for dusting the top Please have your ingredients @ room temperature before you mix them up. lemon zest? I think it would be good in this pie, but have not tried it yet.... maybe a teaspoon of zest. This is the first time that I have made this wonderful pie, your should make it too! I love LOVE this pie. It was pretty sweet and next time I think I will reduce the sugar to 1 and 1/2 cups of sugar for a bit more of a balance. I have tried making homemade buttermilk before using vinegar and regular milk... it sort of works but to me is mediocre at best. Please buy some buttermilk, it will not break your bank and this pie deserves it for sure! Please do not 'overbake' your pie. Make sure it is jiggly when you take it out of the oven. The whole pie should shake a bit, then as it cools down it will become so very delicious and smooth. Thank you for watching!
