In this introductory series, you will learn how to hold the violin, how to hold the bow, and how to make your first sounds on the instrument. Today's lesson is based on All For Strings Book 1, page 6, #1-6. It focuses on playing the open D and A strings. 01:42 #1 D String 03:54 #2 Two D's 06:10 #3 A String 06:54 #4 Two A's 07:34 #5 D and A 09:11 #6 Fast Preparations As you play along on your open strings remember: Left hand fingers should be pointed up, or holding onto shoulder. If your fingers are touching the open strings it will stop the sound. Bow should always be between the bridge and the fingerboard. Try to use the whole bow from frog to tip. It may be uncomfortable at first but is well worth the effort. Watch your bow to stay on one string at a time. If you have any questions, ask in the comments.
