Here's how to easily mount a floating shelf Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions Use painters tape to Mark the desired height of the shelf use a stud finder to mark locations of the left, the right and the middle stud Studs are usually about 16 inches apart (center to center) Mark the center of the bracket to the center of the middle stud Make sure you pick the right drill bit Drill a pilot hole into the middle stud and install just one screw into the bracket Take a level and Mark the left and right holes on the studs and Mark all of the holes between the studs for the drywall anchors Drill pilot holes for everything take the bracket off and you should see Pilot holes in the studs and pilot holes in the drywall Using the included drywall anchors we're going to screw this right into the drywall Don't over screw or the anchor will break Repeat the process for all the drywall holes Start driving more screws into the bracket and check for level Drive all the screws into the drywall and into the studs Now we're almost done Install the shelf onto the bracket and check that it's level all the way through Lastly install the bottom set screw
