Two years ago it was a fantastic option but time and tech don't stand still! BUT there are a few reasons why it should be in your list when looking to buy a budget minded Micro ATX board for your Gaming or business PC. The chipset does still have some limitations, NO PCIe Gen 4, and lots of PCIe lane sharing between slots can make component choices a little more difficult. And one of the biggest problems for some people will be the lack of ARGB or addressable RGB. We do get however CPU and APU support through the Ryzen 1000, 2000, 3000, 4000 and 5000 series and maybe even 6000 series in future. We also have a decent number of USB 3.2 gen1 and gen2 ports and a dedicated type C on the rear IO panel. For those looking to pair with a newer processor, the MSI USB flash back button make updating the BIOS very easy to do and no need for an older CPU - We can flash without A CPU! There are pros and cons but overall for Micro ATX at less than £50 the MSI b450m mortar max is is a great option. Highly recommended.
