Celeste is a game that has been praised to the moon and back down to earth by pretty much anyone who ever played it. Anyone I ever talked to who played Celeste loved the game - and I wholeheartedly agree. Celeste is a wonderful game - an almost flawless masterpiece, from the very first jump until we grab the final crystal heart in the mountains center But there is one aspect of Celeste that is often overlooked, One aspect that, at least in my humble opinion, is the most interesting one about the game. The game's story and more importantly where it actually draws inspiration from. The game has far more to say about life than the usual just-believe-in-yourself-goop that most media tends to spill out if we shake it long enough. Celeste, if shaken thoroughly, begins to reveal really unusual ideas and a really interesting message. You see, while it is not unusual for games or media in general to tell the tale of a protagonist who has to overcome their inner struggles - Celeste is very unusual in how Madeline actually overcomes this very struggle. The school of thought or philosophy that is hidden below Celeste's tale is quite unusual and something seldomly talked about. So let’s change this! In this video we will embark on a journey. We will follow Madeline on her journey to the top of Celeste mountain - we will take a look at a lot of interesting aspects of the game along the way, we will try to make sense of some of the more unusual aspects of the games story and in the end we will take a deep dive into - what I believe to be the psychology - behind how Madeline overcomes her inner struggle. ====== Patreon Help content like this survive on the platform: / ceave ======= Link Here’s the writeup by Maddy Thorson mentioned in the video: https://www.mattmakesgames.com/articl... ====== Timestamps----------- 00:00:00 - Intro 00:03:36 - I: A City To Climb (Premise) 00:11:51 - II: Oshiro (Making Sense Of Chapter 3) 00:22:14 - III: Git Gut (Gameplay) 00:42:20 - IV: Rock Bottom (Context For Chapter V) 00:52:44 - V: To The Summit (The Psychology Of Celeste) ====== Sources Wikipedia: Viktor Frankl, Logotherapy “Man’s Search For Meaning” - Viktor Frankl https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/arti.... • Viktor Frankl und trotzdem Ja zum L...
