Consul General of the Czech Republic in São Paulo, Miloš Sklenka, greets the participants of the international online conference "Czech Republic and the Lusophone Countries: Education, Art, Digital Technology in Teaching" (CRLC) organized by the Institute of Czech-Brazilian Academic Cooperation (INCBAC), the Department of Music of the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen (UWB) and the State University of Rio Grande do Sul (UERGS). VIDEO TRANSCRIPTION: I would like to personally welcome all participants of this Czech Republic and Lusophonic Countries International Conference. It is a great honour for the Consulate General of the Czech Republic in Sao Paulo to be able to support this conference at least through this video message as a port for bilateral cooperation between the Czech Republic and Brazil in the field of education is among the key priorities of our Consulate General’s activities in the field of economic and public diplomacy. Today there are 34 signed cooperation academic agreements between Czech and Brazilian universities, involving 16 universities at the Czech side. And I am sure that it is namely the Institute of Czech Brazilian Academic Cooperation, together with the universities themselves, who displayed the most supportive role in this cooperation process in bilateral academic field. Now let me give you a brief update on some examples of academic cooperation that our consulate general in Sao Paulo has directly developed or supported this year. And I will give you only two examples. First is the university of Santa Cruz in the state of Rio Grande do Sul. We are developing a project combating domestic violence, especially violence against women. The project is focused on providing free of charge legal assistance for victims. And it effectively helps to reduce crimes against women and improve the position of them in the Brazilian society. At the same time the involved students are gaining unique practical, legal and life experience. This project is also an exemplary case of real application of human rights principles in the Czech foreign policy. The second example is our cooperation with the school of law in Porto Alegre. Recently we organized together with this university, Brazilian Bar Association, Czech Invest and Association for Foreign Investments in Prague an international webinar on the start-up environment in the Czech Republic. With the aim to support the cooperation in the field of applied research and innovation between universities and companies. And concluding, I wish you all possible success.
