I’m thinking of coming back to this place to do a paranormal investigation. It seems interesting and is known to be ‘haunted’ 🫢 📍Eastwood Estate Children's Home (aka Parkhurst Teaching and Resource Centre) - Rotherham, England 🏴 __________________________________________ 🏚️ Originally known as Parkhurst, the building was constructed in 1905 as part of Eastwood House Estate. It was commissioned by Mr Joseph Hardy Pickford, a local solicitor, to the designs of Edward Hutchinson and Son, Architects of Rotherham. It was occupied by Pickford up until his death in 1924, after which it was converted and opened as Eastwood Estate's Children's Home. Known at the time as a 'cottage home', it became a refuge for a small number of underprivileged youth, delinquents, orphans and juvenile offenders by providing a remedial environment for them. The building was sold to the newly formed Rotherham Council in the 1970s, when Eastwood Estate condensed into a convalescent home. After which it became a teacher training centre, retaining its original name Parkhurst. Parkhurst Teaching and Resource Centre was used to teach and train members of the council in various roles. It closed in the early 2000s and the building was sold to Clifton Park Developments, however planning permission to demolish the building and replace it with residential housing was denied by Rotherham Council. The owner thereafter allowed it to fall into a state of utter disrepair. It has stood empty and unused for over 15 years. ________________________________________
