As the backlash against women rights and gender equality continues in the EU, Parliament’s women’s rights and civil liberties committees are organising a public hearing on the consequences of Poland’s de facto ban on abortion. MEPs will discuss with relatives of the first known victim of the ban and representatives of NGOs defending sexual and reproductive health and rights. Parliament has repeatedly condemned the violation women’s rights in several EU countries, especially in Poland. This hearing wants to raise public awareness about the worsening situation of women and girls, which is violating fundamental human rights in an EU country. The speakers include: Barbara Skrobol, sister-in-law of Izabela Sajbor, the first known victim of the de facto abortion ban in Poland Kamila Ferenc, Lawyer of the Foundation for Women and Family Planning FEDERA Neil Datta, Secretary of the European Parliamentary Forum for Sexual and Reproductive Rights Caroline Hickson, Regional Director of the International Planned Parenthood Federation European Network Comment on: Facebook / europeanparliament Twitter / europarl_en
