WILLARD RINGSTRANDS HAMMOND ENSEMBLE: TOMTARNAS VAKTPARAD

This recording made for the label "Musica" (owned by Telefunken) in 1947 contains Sweden's Hammond organ guru Willard Ringstrand (1908-73). There was more than organ playing though. Ringstrand was a popular orchestra leader, lyricist, composer and radio personality. He began his career by accompanying both legends Karl Gerhard and Ernst Rolf and he was later the pianist for the vocal group "Kvartetten Synkopen". He worked as a record producer at Sonora and was one of the founders of the successful label Cupol. He worked for Swedish Radio from 1957 and worked there until his retirement. He died only two days after his retirement. Here we hear him play "Tomtarnas Vaktparad" (Heinzelmännchens Wachtparade) by Kurt Noack, together with his Hammond Ensemble. Enjoy!
