This video demonstrates a regular phacoemulsification surgery in a patient with a nuclear sclerosis - An age related cataract... All the regular steps were performed and the nucleus was removed using a modified stop and chop technique... An IOL was implanted in the capsular bag and the ports were hydrated. Surgeon: Dr. Saurabh N Shah (MS) Prizma Eyecare Hospitals Hello friends I am Dr.Saurabh Shah from prizma Eye Care Hospital Surat.. In this video i am going to show you a regular phacoemulsification procedure in a normal cataract patient.. This procedure is done under topical anaesthesia.. -start with making a clear corneal incision of 2.2 mm size... -intracameral injection of anesthesia... -the visco elastics to fill the anterior chamber and over the cornea... -the next step is called capsulorexsis..in simple term normal nucleus of a cataract is situated in the bag and we are going to make an opening in the capsule..so we can remove the cataract... see... with the help of 26 no. needle we completed....continuous curvilinear capsulorhexis -the next part is part of surgery is called hydro procedure means hydrodissection and hydrodelineation ...so in this part we are going to separate the cataractous nucleus from its capsule with the help of saline injection...to ensure the complete separation we rotate the nucleus . -see the golden ring -- its a sign of proper separation of nucleus .. with this lets begin the phaco procedure -Phacoemulsification is a ultra-modern cataract surgery method in which the cataract is emulsified and aspirated from the eye with the help of phaco probe...The phaco probe is an ultrasonic handpiece and its tip vibrates at ultrasonic frequency to sculpt and emulsify the cataract while the pump aspirates particles through the tip. -in phaco procedure,The cataract is usually broken into two or four pieces which is called choping the nucleaus and then each piece is emulsified and aspirated out with suction. as you can see the nucleus emulsification makes it easier to aspirate the particles. -After removing all the central hard nucleus lets move on to next step which is cortical clean up... , An irrigation-aspiration probe or a bimanual system is used to aspirate out the remaining peripheral cortical matter, while leaving the posterior capsule intact. -and the last step of phaco is the implantation of the foldable IOL with iol injector.. -IOL is injected into the eye and placed in the posterior chamber in the capsular bag (in-the-bag implantation). -so we have done all procedure form a smaller incision we don't take any sutures only hydration is sufficient to close the incision and the patient's recovery time is usually shorter when using so guys this is ultramodern painless , sutureless, clear corneal phacoemulsification procedure with in the bag foldable IOL insertion and shorters recovery period.. thank you..
