1st time visit to Kelvedon on the Great Eastern Main Line featuring stopping services to and from Ipswich and Colchester Town and passing services from Norwich and Clacton-on-Sea. Kelvedon station opened in 1843 serves the villages of Kelvedon itself and Feering as well as the settlements of Coggeshall and Tiptree. At one time there was two stations in Kelvedon with another being located to the North East on the former Kelvedon and Tollesbury Light Railway known as Kelvedon Low Level which opened in 1904. There was a extension to Tollesbury Pier opening in 1907 however the whole closed to Passengers in May 1951 with goods traffic being withdrawn 5 months later although coal traffic did continue for another 11 years until closing for good in 1962. Kelvedon itself like many rural stations had been built to handle goods traffic with the sidings being located at the London End of the Platforms which in fact was also the sight of where the original signal box was located however the signal box closed in 1961 when control was handed over to Witham whilst the goods yard closed in December 1964.
