This song explores letting go of past hurts to find peace. Recorded in a single take for Higher Ground, this raw performance highlights Barbra's spiritual connection and vocal mastery. Welcome to my YouTube exposé, The Streisand in Me: Later Years. As the champion of the divine feminine, Barbra taught me authenticity. After forty years of being openly gay, I have embraced my own divine spirit, releasing all fear to sing magnificent songs I once thought were off-limits. I refuse to let the world dictate my voice, honoring Barbra’s principle of only performing what she feels in her bones. Sweet Forgiveness 8.2 ~ Later Years ~ The Streisand in Me Original Album Release Me 2 Writers Walter Afanasieff, John Bettis The Barbra Streisand Foundation was formed in 1986 following the Chernobyl disaster and her first backyard concert. This wonderful divine feminine has a big heart and she takes care of it, raising over 50 million dollars for women's heart health and civil liberties for all. She pioneered the industry as the first woman to write, produce, direct, and star in a major studio film, using art for change. Her genius has been supported by lifelong creative relationships like Marty Erlichman, the Bergmans, Michel Legrand, and Marvin Hamlisch. Barbra transforms vulnerability into emotional mastery, and her philanthropic spirit continues to inspire my own sacred activism. Barbra is a force of nature whose soul illuminates every word. I understand her steadfastness and feel her fearless spirit in every song. This series is a tribute to her tenacious spirit and the continuous inspiration she provides for a man who has found his unwavering voice through her art. Join me in The Streisand in Me as I embrace her expressive spirit that illuminates the deepest corners of the Great American Songbook. Barbra’s albums became my gospel, the silent teacher giving me confidence to claim my voice. Though I studied architecture, fear held me back until 1980 when I finally broke the mold and moved to Toronto. Every bridge I crossed was a necessary step toward this moment. As the champion of the divine feminine and LGBTQ+ community, Barbra taught me authenticity. At 67, and after 40 years of being openly gay, I have released all fear to embrace my own divine feminine and passionately sing these magnificent songs. My story begins in 1961 in Detroit, where my future stepmother witnessed an eighteen-year old Barbra’s raw power. Two years later, on the night Barbra debuted on The Ed Sullivan Show, my mother passed away. This loss led my father to meet my stepmother, who joined our family bringing her first nine Streisand albums. They sat hidden in a closet for a decade until I discovered them. Before Streisand, Judy Garland was the muse who first beckoned me toward the stage. My journey with singing truly began in 1970 when I was gifted the Carpenters' Close to You album. I sang along with Karen, deeply relating to her sadness, and spent years as a solitary singer in my bedroom. I owned five Carpenters albums by the time my life found its path on February 16, 1975. Watching the television premiere of Funny Girl changed everything. Streisand’s performance ignited my secret desire to sing. My stepmother gifted me those original albums plus The Way We Were. From that moment on, I never bought another Carpenters record. #The Streisand in Me, #Dolphin Diemer, #Barbra Streisand, #Dolphin Karaoke, #LGBTQ+ Singer, #Higher Ground Album, #Release Me 2, #Walter Afanasieff, #John Bettis, #Sweet Forgiveness, #American Songbook, #Singing Women Songs, #Divine Feminine,
