This undated color wheel is from the Met's "Junior Museum," perhaps a souvenir for the 1958 exhibition "How to Look at Paintings," which included a large interactive color wheel. Unfortunately, the transparent color spots follow the theory that red, yellow, and blue are the primary colors. In this video we'll explore why that falls down a bit as a demonstration for subtractive mixing. At the end, I'll also show a better designed wheel from 1988 - the Process Color Selector Wheel, a tool for graphic designers, which visualize dofferent mixtures of magenta, yellow, cyan and black in 10% increments. #colortheory #artandscience #artteacher #artanddesign #colorwheel
