Recyclable Mono-PE Cheese Pouch – Sustainable Packaging

Innovation by Hosokawa Alpine, ExxonMobil, Kuraray and IMA Ilapak Together with partners, Hosokawa Alpine has developed a fully recyclable mono-PE cheese pouch that replaces conventional multi-material packaging. The pouch is produced on a nine-layer blown film line with inline MDO (Machine Direction Orientation) from Hosokawa Alpine. The advanced film structure combines ExxonMobil’s Exceed™ and Enable™ performance PE polymers with Kuraray EVAL™ barrier technology, ensuring excellent stiffness, transparency, and barrier properties. Compared to traditional rigid trays, the new mono-PE pouch achieves a weight reduction of up to 60 %, while maintaining full product protection and visibility. It is designed to meet EU PPWR recyclability requirements and supports the circular economy approach for sustainable food packaging.
