Periodic maintenance is important for any motorcycle and oil change is the most important part of it. Functionalities of Engine oil: Lubrication, Cooling , Cleaning When to change: As per the SV650 manual (I recommend to change just after the winter, before you start riding again) What do you need: Decent set of tools New Oil (Suzuki recommended, Castrol, Motul, anything will do). 10W40 is good for European weather conditions. Depending on where you live, it can be different (do some research before taking matters in your own hands) New filter (I used K&N. Suzuki original filter or Hiflo are OK as well) A torque wrench (10-60 Nm should be enough) A paddock is a useful thing to have (to get that extra ground clearance or to keep the motorbike straight while working / checking oil level) In this video, I forgot to cover the exhaust tubles before draining.
