After evangelist Daniel Kolenda preached and taught about the way to salvation at this campaign in Ogbomosho, Nigeria 2018, he teaches here about how we as Christians can receive the baptism in the Holy Spirit. In his teaching on this, he takes as his starting point Luke 11:11-13, which says: “Which of you who is a father, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or a snake if he asks for a fish? Or a scorpion if he asks for an egg? If you, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him?” Here Jesus asks a so-called rhetorical question, says Kolenda and continues: – It is a question where the answer is obvious. Kolenda then continues with the last verse of this text, and then asks: Shall I tell you what this means, my friend? It means that God wants to give you the Holy Spirit tonight. He wants to fill you to the brim. And it will happen right now in this field. Kolenda then briefly recounts what happened on the day of Pentecost in Acts 2, when the Holy Spirit was poured out on the disciples, and then quotes Peter’s words in Acts 2,39: “This promise is for you and for your children and for all who are far off, as many as the Lord our God will call to himself.” He then continues, “My friend, it is for you tonight.” Then he asks everyone to turn to their neighbor on either side and say that it is for them too. Then he calls out, “Point to yourself and say, ‘It is for me! And I will receive it in the name of Jesus!’” Kolenda then goes on to say that there are two requirements that everyone must meet if they want to receive the Holy Spirit. He then points back to Luke 11, where Jesus showed by his example that it is our heavenly Father who gives us the Holy Spirit and that he gives it to his children. So the first requirement is that we must be a child of God. How do I become a child of God? That's what we've been talking about all evening. When I talked about becoming a new creature in Christ and how we are born again. If you have made Jesus your Savior and Lord in your life, the Bible says that you are born again to His glory. The second requirement spoken of in Luke 11 is that we must ask for this gift. So you are to ask your father for the gift that he promised to give, and you will receive it in faith. The Holy Spirit will fill you, and you will be transformed into a new person. When you receive the Holy Spirit, you will receive power, and you will begin to speak in other tongues. All the gifts of the Spirit will be available, and you will have visions and dreams, as Joel prophesied. “In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams.” It will happen here now, says Kolenda. How many of you want this gift? he then asks, and repeats: How many of you hunger for this? Say: I am hungry! I am thirsty! Say: Fill me, Lord Jesus! In a pedagogically correct way, Daniel Kolenda now guides this large crowd in how they can receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit. He prepares them on how to pray to receive this gift, and tells them that in a little while the worship team will lead them in the hallelujah chorus, because this is a chorus that is the same in all languages and that everyone understands. And when we sing Hallelujah, we should turn our eyes to Jesus, and Kolenda now quotes what John the Baptist said: "After me comes one who is mightier than I. I am not worthy to untie his sandals. " John said: " I baptize you with water, but he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire." My friend – Jesus is the baptizer. So tonight Jesus will come to you! Jesus will take you in his arms and baptize you in the river of fire. Therefore, we will worship him together. Kolenda then instructs them in what they are to do together. After a moment of worship, he will ask them to be quiet. And in this silence, they are to ask Jesus to give them his promise of the Holy Spirit. You receive it by faith in the name of Jesus. And when we finish that prayer I'm gone ask you to lift your hands and close your eyes. And then I gone ask you to shout a mighty HALLELUJAH. After that we will continue to praising the Lord. Keep worshipping Jesus with your whole heart. And as our praises are going up to him, his Holy Spirit is going to fill you. And when the Holy Spirit falls, people don't only speak in tongues, but every kinds of miracle begins to happend. Many of you will be healed as the Holy Spirit falls, and many of you will be delivered from demons when. And you will never be the same. They now follow the direction Kolenda has given them, and after praise and silent prayer, they shout out a mighty HALLELUJAH, and people all over the area began to speak in tongues and praise the Lord. And at the end, many came forward to testify about their healings. Praise the Lord! What a mighty meeting this was!
