The villages of the Strona valley developed in the Middle Ages, when the communities referred to Omegna (Italy), as described in the first document dated 1133. The first parish to break away was that of Luzzogno, erected on 5 March 1455, while the lower part of the valley separated from the central church a century later. In 1590, the Bishop of Novara accepted the plea of the inhabitants of Loreglia and erected the new parish dedicated to St Gotthard. The vicissitudes of Loreglia were closely linked to those of the Borromeo family, whose fiefdom passed to the King of Spain in the 16th century. The church of Loreglia was enlarged in the 17th century and remained linked to Omegna until the 18th century. The territory of Loreglia is characterised by green landscapes, rich in coniferous forests and wide meadows that offer the possibility of excursions in unspoilt nature. The parish church dates back to the 15th century and was built on the foundations of an ancient Romanesque oratory, part of whose adjacent bell tower remains. The exterior overlooks a natural balcony overlooking the lower part of the valley. The vivid colours of the façade anticipate a richly decorated and frescoed interior, a sign of the noble artistic tradition handed down by the ancestors. The tower was completely renovated inside in recent times, making access to the upper part where the eight bells are located rather easy. The original bell concert was recast by Barigozzi in 1912, when the tower was completed with the new cell. The large bell cracked and was recast by Achille Mazzola in 1983. On that occasion, the company also added the two minor bells, thus bringing the concert to eight bells in F major. f' - g' - a' - b' flat - c'' - d'' - e'' - f'' After seeing the beautiful village in Chesio, Luca took me to this other bell tower, the penultimate on our itinerary to celebrate the first day of the year. The fantastic ringing was in honour of the baby Jesus, carried in procession by an emotional crowd. #bells #church #bell #italy #view #landscape #cinematic #travel #catholicchurch #mountains #christmas #vlogs #Jesus
