Here is my tutorial on a squelchy growl such as one you would find in a "Spag Heddy", "Tom Budin", or "Inf1n1te" tune. Though it has a lot of the characteristics of an FM sound made in Sytrus or FM8. In fact the Massive patch uses FM / Phase modulation in order to get to the main sound so it's not hard to see why. To stop the hating here is a list of all the plugins you will need to make the sound exactly as I have it: NI Massive Sausage Fattener Melda Tremolo, Frequency Shifter, and Equaliser. (Comes in the Melda free effects bundle). A vocoder, I used the one, that comes with Audacity. (Free) "ST Tool", (Free) Voxengo "Stereo Touch", and "Tube Amp" (Free). You can go without a few of the plugins near the end of the list, it's important you have Massive, Sausage Fattener (or similar plugin), a Tremolo, a Frequency Shifter, and a Vocoder though. It sounds like a lot, but with the exception of two (which are well worth the money), the rest are 100% free. :D It's another of my rather long tutorials, and in a desperate bid to keep it short, I had to talk quite quickly, and didn't go into massive amounts of detail on everything.
