However, the University of Michigan Health Frankel Cardiovascular Center is pioneering a life-saving initiative by refurbishing pacemakers to save lives for international use. Established in 2010, Project My Heart Your Heart focuses on reconditioning pacemakers for compassionate reimplantation, specifically in life-threatening cases where no alternative exists. Now, the University of Michigan is leading an international clinical trial that would standardize the process of sending reconditioned pacemakers overseas.
