HONOLULU- The Hawaii Emergency Management Agency (HI-EMA), formerly known as State Civil Defense conducted siren testing at Sand Island Recreation Area on Wednesday, Sept. 17 at about 1:40 PM. Residents in these areas may hear the siren sound for six to eight times during 30- second to one- minute intervals during the identified timeframe. Testing will include checks of the public address system and short blasts known as “burps.” During the tests, technicians will check that recent work on the siren have been properly completed.
