2nd Annual Family Backpacking trip | Bigelows in Maine

Em, Jakes Sister only comes home once a year. She lives out west in Bend Oregon so we always get out on the trail and try to show those west coast mountains up. Last year we did a half pemi in NH hitting Franconia ridge and stayed at Garfield campsite. It was so crowded we decided to hit our home state of Maine. We ran into about 9 people over the 2 days. This year we hit the Bigelow Preserve. We picked our route based on one of the only campsites in the area that allowed fires. So up the Safford Brook Trail to the AT we went. Checking out Safford Tent site on the way to Avery Peak. Then over to west peak with a short stop at Avery Col Tentsite. We returned to Safford tent site to spend the night and hike out in the morning
