Rajasthan’s Pratapgarh Police rescued 53 tribal labourers, including women and minors, who were allegedly held captive and forced to work in Maharashtra’s Solapur district. The labourers were taken from villages in Pratapgarh two months ago on the false promise of good wages, food and accommodation in Indore but were instead sent to sugarcane fields in Solapur, where they were made to work long hours without pay and were beaten when they demanded wages. Acting on a complaint, a team led by SP B. Aditya carried out the rescue operation. Three people have been named accused and a case has been registered.
