Jun Senoue was not one of the main composers of Sonic '06. But what if he were? I saw another video of a Jun Senoue style cover of this song by Sonic Guitars, which consisted of the guitar parts being played over the original song. I thought it was a cool idea, but I could do more with that concept. The overall groove was heavily based on Bullet Station from Sonic Heroes, featuring electronic dance drums and a combination of a bass synth and slap bass. Jun's guitar tone was easy to replicate, thanks to the IR provided by Nukeledge. For the synths, I briefly considered getting a Korg Trinity VST, as the Trinity is one of the main synths that Jun used, but I quickly found out that it costs WAY too much money for me; so I had to approximate synth sounds that Jun has used, using what I have. The sweeping synth pad is similar to a sound that was used in Crazy Gadget from Adventure 2. And the synth lead in the final section is based on a sound that was used in Hidden Base. Overall, I'm really proud of this mix! I think the last section is by far the weakest part, although I kinda feel that way about the original song too, which is probably why I struggled so much to make it sound interesting.
