Return to Planky Mill, Northumberland. Very sad to see the suspension bridge has gone! The area was used as a filming location for the 2025 Movie 28 Years Later. Situated on the River Allen, there are some lovely trails through the wooded river gorge to the old mill and campsite. The walk starts from the Allen Banks and Staward Gorge car park to the north of the site. You can then pick up footpaths heading south along the River Allen to the mill which is about a 1.5 mile walk. The route then continues south to Staward Peel and Haltwhistle wood where there are some pretty waterfalls to see along the river. Plankey Mill is a farm located near Bardon Mill in Northumberland, England, famous for being a former campsite. The farm is situated within the Allen Banks and Staward Gorge area, which is owned and maintained by the National Trust. While the farm itself is private, the surrounding woodlands and gorge are accessible for walks. The area offers beautiful scenery, including views of the River Allen, although some paths and a suspension bridge are currently closed due to damage. #plankymill #riverallen #dronefootage
