VENICE, CA — Wednesday, September 23, 2025 — A multi-agency cleanup operation was conducted Wednesday morning at Venice Beach as part of the City of Los Angeles’ ongoing efforts to improve sanitation, safety, and public access along the coastline. The sweep was led by Los Angeles Park Rangers in coordination with the Department of Public Works, Clean Harbors Environmental Services, the Los Angeles Police Department, and the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority (LAHSA). Enforcement efforts focused on several encampments located along the Venice Boardwalk and adjacent beach areas. Environmental Compliance Inspectors from the Department of Public Works instructed individuals to vacate the area, providing approximately 15 minutes to gather personal belongings before sanitation crews advanced. Inspectors then assessed the site, identifying and removing materials classified as hazardous—items that can include batteries, aerosols, or other toxic waste. Clean Harbors crews handled the disposal of hazardous materials, while Public Works personnel in yellow vests cleared away the remaining debris. Advance cleanup notices had been posted in the area ahead of enforcement. Staff from Councilwoman Traci Park’s office were present to support coordination among agencies. LAHSA outreach workers were also on site, offering hygiene kits, food, clothing, and bottled water to individuals impacted by the sweep. Authorities confirmed that no arrests or citations were issued. City officials described the cleanups as part of a dual-track strategy aimed at maintaining public order while providing connections to housing and supportive services. Santa Monica Closeup will continue documenting coastal enforcement, homelessness outreach, and public safety measures along the Westside. #VeniceBeach #HomelessSweep #CleanupOperation #PublicSafety #losangeles — 𝗖𝗢𝗣𝗬𝗥𝗜𝗚𝗛𝗧 𝗡𝗢𝗧𝗜𝗖𝗘 This video is protected by copyright and provided for personal viewing only.
