Snowy 2.0 Project Update - June 2025 🌄

Let's check in with Richard Clarke, Snowy 2.0's Project Manager at Marica! 🌄 It's here that the complex work is being done to get ready for our brand new Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM)! The team are working hard to excavate nearly 40m into the ground, and preparing the adit that will house our new TBM. Once assembled, our new TBM will then travel nearly 3km to assist in excavating Richard also gives us an update on the nearly 250m deep and 30m wide surge shaft excavation. This surge shaft will be crucial to the operation of Snowy 2.0 - relieving pressure on the turbines when the system is turned off, and also giving the system a head start when the turbines are switched on! It's tough work in a challenging environment, but we have the know how, the attitude and most importantly, the people to get the job done safely. When operational, Snowy 2.0 will have the capacity to power 3 million homes for a week! It's all part of helping Australia transition to renewable energy - and we are so proud to play our part.
