Beautiful day hike in the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area and Worthington State Forest to Mount Tammany. Parking just off Interstate 80 we climbed the rocky Red Dot Trail to the Mount Tammany viewpoint which offered outstanding views of the Delaware River at the gap in the Kittatinny Mountains. Following a snack break we continued down on the Blue Blaze trail crossing Dunnfield Creek with its inviting pools of water, continuing on the Appalachian Trail back to the parking lot for a total of 3.5 miles and 1,100’ of elevation gain. This hike is considered one of the most beautiful in New Jersey and we couldn’t agree more!
