In our series "3 and More Perspectives on One Piece", we illuminate selected works from very different points of view. This ensemble of bronze cross and golden pendants was found in Assur, in the north of present-day Iraq. The preserved inscription on the cross states that it was a gift from a brewer to a god. The ensemble of finds is inventoried in the Vorderasiatisches Museum under the numbers VA 5379 and VA 5376. Helen Gries, curator at the Vorderasiatisches Museum of the Staatlichen Museen zu Berlin, talks about why a brewer played an important role in the temple of Assur (Iraq) and what the golden pendant in the shape of a lung is all about.
