Thank you for (by now over) 200 subs! This is from their ARCHE BUDOKAN Day2 concert. The lyrics are interesting to say the least and there's lots of annotations this time! Translation by me. Annotations: "You give me a smile as you step on my shadow" - The "step on my shadow part" is actually referring to a children's game ("kagefumi" or "kagefumi oni"). One of the children is selected as the demon and tries to step on the other children's shadows. Once your shadow is stepped on, you become the demon. "The sky is wearing mud" - "Wearing" as in how a hat would be worn. "Because of the sun that has no face showing disgust" - More literally it would be "[...] that has no face that looks as if overcome with disgust". "The sight suddenly makes tears well up" - "suddenly" as in "without noticing", "subconsciously". "Stab the true meaning with the harsh knife" - If "harsh" seems weird to be used to describe a knife, that's because it is a word usually used to describe one's personality in Japanese as well (図太い). "Childbirth commemoration party" - The first time Kyo is singing this, he replaces "It's so lovely" with it. "Overlap" - There's multiple options here. "One after another" is what I had first written down, but I think it refers to mother and child looking alike (it is used like that in Hotarubi for example) and therefore "overlap" might be the closest translation. He also leaves out ねんねんころり (nennen korori), which is from the first line of a well known lullaby for children. He also leaves out あなたの名前は? (anata no namae wa?), which means "What is your name?". "No time to talk comfortably before "straddling"" - This line is a bit mysterious to me. The "No time to talk comfortably" part is quite clear, but I am not sure how "straddling" ties into that, so please look at this line with some caution. "Let the flag of our country bloom" - This might also be "your/my country". I decided to go with "our" because it seems the most natural to go with the "Let"-grammar. --------------- I do not own Dir En Grey or any of their music or performances. I translate for fun and wanted to share this translation. Thank you for watching! I've been thinking about translating other artists as well (maybe the GazettE, Plastic Tree, DADAROMA...?), but I was wondering what you guys would think about that. Would it be nice to see other bands as well?
