The first installment in this year’s Preservation Academy Series focused on the differences between federal, state and local-level historic districts, differences between urban and rural historic districts, benefits historic districts provide, regulations and requirements for owning property in a historic district, and myths about living in a historic district. Speakers included Dr. Christine Henry, Associate Professor, University of Mary Washington; Greg Rutledge, Preservation Architect at Hanbury and Norfolk Architectural Review Board Member; and Heidi Siebentritt, Loudoun County Preservation Planner. Phil Deemer, President, Preservation Bath, moderated the discussion.
