Chayote is easy to grow but it depends on where you live. The colder the climate the less likely you'll have success in planting and producing chayote. It requires at least 6 months of warm/hot growing season before it starts producing chayotes. I live in ZONE 7 in TN and we do get longer summer months so it's a blessing. The chayotes I planted were from my plants (last year 2020 plants) Overtime the chayote squash became mature and they sprouted so I cooked the edible part of the chayote and planted the sprouted portion. I decided to plant them indoor using grocery bags (as an experiment) for easy transplanting later on.
